Brewery: Beavertown Brewery
Bottle Size: 330ml
Taste:Strongly hopped, slightly citric
Aroma:Hoppy, but with citrus coming through
I bought Beavertown Gamma Ray after seeing it on The Weeknd’s Instagram story. It wasn’t an inspired or educated choice, but Beavertown was a brewery I’d heard positive things about since we started the website about a month ago and had wanted to review.
Since buying my first can of Beavertown, a lot has happened to the company! I’m sure anyone reading this is aware of the developments, and the first question as a new entrant to the beer scene is does it matter? Clearly, to some it does. To me, not at all. Each to their own, and I think the quality of the drink is far more important. As long as that remains, then ownership just doesn’t concern me.
So, how is the quality of the beer? It’s good. It’s very good. It’s smooth, balanced, hoppy and has a lovely burst of citrus. The aftertaste is pleasant, it stays long enough to be enjoyable, but doesn’t linger until it’s unwelcome.
It’s a lovely American Pale Ale, and definitely worth a try. I’ll be picking up some more, both of Gamma Ray and of some other Beavertown ales.
