Bolt Head from Summerskills has been in my fridge for a while. Summerskills have been behind a few of the beers reviewed on this site, and they have been consistently good.
Continuing in that vein, Bolt Head is different to any of the others I’ve had from them to date, but is another success. This is definitely a more malty and fizzy beer than the other offerings from Summerskills, but it shows diversity and a different style from the brewery.
From the initial pour, the colour with a crisp and full head, the aroma and the initial taste, everything about this beer is inviting.
As you progress through the beer it gets better. The ‘fizz’ gives a nice feel in the mouth and the balanced flavours with very little aftertaste give a pleasant experience throughout.
All in all, this is another fine beer from an excellent local brewery.
