Doom Bar is definitely a local favourite. Sharps Brewery are one of the better known and more widely available from Devon and Cornwall, and Doom Bar is a regular ‘go-to’ ale when on tap in a local pub.
That said, in bottle form I feel it loses something. Part of its charm is missing, and I can’t quite place what it is. It’s still a good beer, don’t get me wrong, but in reviewing this and comparing it to other beers I’ve tried recently I just don’t get the same buzz.
Reviews are all about opinion, and I won’t stop buying Doom Bar on the back of this, maybe I will revisit this review and totally disagree with it in the near future, but for now I place Doom Bar as a just above average 6.
