Brewery: Meantime Brewing
Bottle Size: 330ml
Taste:Complex, smooth and balanced. Bitter with a chocolate aftertaste
Colour:Dark appearance, but vibrant red in the light
Aroma:Dark chocolate bitterness
I think the easiest way to praise this is to say it didn’t last long. I don’t think the 330ml bottle does this beer justice, and isn’t big enough to satisfy the moreishness of the ale. The simple answer is to make sure you buy more than one of these, that was my undoing.
The flavours are delightfully balanced, but taste complex and difficult to pin down. The roasted malts provide coffee like flavourings, but the advertised chocolate flavourings are also present, especially in the aftertaste.
This reminds me of a cold brew coffee in some ways, and doesn’t taste overpowering in any way. It’s a really clever balance and very easy to drink.
I’d encourage anybody to give this one a go.
