Brewery: Harbour Brewing Company
Bottle Size: 660ml
Taste:Delicate, slightly fruity
Colour:Clear, fresh and golden
Aroma:Light, slightly lemony, pleasant
I purchased this largely because the brewery is quite local, and their Twitter informed me that they’d only just started bottling. Managing to get a local bottled beer from the supermarket so close to bottling seemed like an opportunity not to be missed.
If the reasons for purchase were somewhat impulsive and without any real knowledge of ‘what’ I was buying, the lager itself is a revelation. Lager is by no means a preference for me, but this one is really showing the difference between a ‘good’ and a mass produced cheap lager.
This beer has just the right level of ‘fizz’, not absent but not gassy either, making it easy to drink. The flavour is also delicate and finely balanced, making a pleasant and smooth tasttkn experience.
The rarer 660ml bottle size is also a major plus. The moreishness of this lager means that anything smaller would probably leave you yearning for more. In fact, I’d happily crack another one open straight after this one.
All in all, this is a great success, and a lager I will be returning to. Now to find it on draught…
