Porters are a type of beer which have really grown on me in recent months. The more malty taste and full bodied flavours have really started to interest me.
This is a fine example of a porter. There’s a balance which makes it palatable, but a plethora of flavours. The bitterness of the roasted malt is offset by a sweet chocolatey flavour. The aftertaste lingers, but not for too long and makes for an enjoyable experience with every sip.
A little added bonus for me is that this is brewed less than 10 minutes from my house. We’ve recently visited Jon at Roam, and I can’t help but be impressed by his mission, his attitude and his willingness to put himself out for people at the beginning of a project, like we are. There’s something very inviting about drinking a beer you know was brewed and bottled within 5 miles of where you’re sitting!
